The College of San Mateo will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new science building at 2:15 p.m. on Sept. 8.
Construction on the 58,000 square-foot building began in May of 2004. The $28 million project was funded by the Measure C bond and includes modern science classrooms and labs, and an observatory with a retractable roof for several telescopes.
Classes are currently being held in the new building.
Those expected to attend the ceremony include CSM President Shirley Kelly, college district board trustees, district Chancellor Ron Galatolo, county and state officials and district administrators and staff.
