New House or Used House?

Future homeowners, after deciding about buying a house, are usually facing another big question- whether the house should be used or should they invest into a new house?

The obvious difference between a new house and an old one is the price of the house. New houses are usually more expensive than houses already owned by someone else. However, when considering additional expenses that may go with the purchase of an older house, it may turn out that the difference in price is not so great in reality.

Houses today are usually built with more energy efficiency in mind than they were few years ago. If the house is new it means that all items are new as well. A homeowner, upon moving in, should not have to worry about replacing any of the equipment for many years. In an older house some items may already be worn out and some things may require replacement or repair.  The house inspection may often miss such problems.

New houses are also better prepared for the demands of modern, electronic equipment. Electronic gadgets, like computers, are now the basic equipment of every household in America. They were not so popular 15 years ago.

One important advantage of buying an older house is certainly the landscaping. Older  houses are usually surrounded by trees, bushes, maybe even some gardens with flowers. New houses are often built in the surrounding of small trees that are intended to grow in the next 10 or more years. Some of the new houses may be built with no landscaping whatsoever and a homebuyer is expected to handle it the way he/she wants. Since handling the landscaping of a new home may be frustrating for some homebuyers, they should consider buying an older house.
